Day three: Today is the day…

“Neither a promotion, losing weight, finding a soul mate, writing a book, nor becoming a billionaire, will ensure happiness.  Nothing ensures happiness.  No destination is great enough.  No dream come true will do.
Because happiness that is not present at the start of the journey will not be present at its end.”  Mike Dooley. (www.Tut.com)

Lotus Petals Gratitude Stop

In this moment, in an instant, you have the chance to activate a switch in your mind.  You have a chance to create a moment in time that is lighter, brighter and more inspiring than the moment before.  Moment by moment.   Think of it like activating the light switch in a dark room.  One moment you can see nothing but darkness, and the next, by the switch of a button, you can see light.  You can see clearly.  It takes a second to activate that switch and the view is completely different.

Same goes for your view of your life in this moment.  Activate the switch of gratitude right now, and see a clear beauty of your life that perhaps was darker or blurry before.  Just like that.

Practice turning on that switch right now and share one thing your are grateful for.

Day two: Are you good at Pooping?

“Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.”  Eckhart Tolle

We participated in Maplewood Loves Wellness Fair yesterday and set up a Gratitude Stop where people of all ages had a chance to stop, contemplate one thing they are grateful for and write it down.  One wee man, aged 5 or so, was giggling and writing while I was talking with other people.  When he was done, he looked up at his parents with a smile and said “look!”, proudly pointing at what he had written: ” ImGoodATpOOpING”.  (Translation: I am good at pooping).

After some contained laughter, his dad took a deep breath and said “I am grateful he can spell.”

We can always be grateful for something, including things we take for granted.

What are you grateful for today?  Check out my entry below.

Day one: Do you want to LOVE the way you feel?

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.” Melody Beattie

The next forty days are about turning the switch on. What switch, you might ask? The one you have been yearning to activate for a while. The one that is hidden behind the cob webs. The one that appears to be really hard to turn on but is screaming at you (when you are willing to listen) to feel more energized, joyful and fulfilled than you ever have before.

My purpose is to help you activate that switch today. We are going to practice for 40 days but we are going to take it one day, one moment, at a time.

3 simple rules:
1. Take a few minutes per day to contemplate and post what/who you are grateful for
2. Be patient and extra gentle with yourself. So, if you miss a day, don’t do what you might normally do and judge yourself, beat yourself up or give up. Take a deep breath and come back to the practice.
3. Get out of your own way (and do this for others). If you think that you might look silly or foolish you have just turned off the switch. Focusing on yourself does that.

So here we go: my first contemplation on gratitude in the comment section below. Practice rule #3 and join me. Turn the switch on right now.
